“Whatever happens, yoga will enable you to approach the experience from a position of inner power.” – Janet Balaskas

WHY DO YOGA WHEN PREGNANT?

Prenatal or pregnancy yoga sessions support your body to stay active in a safe way during pregnancy, it is both beneficial for you and for your baby. You will learn breathing exercises to navigate contractions and mindful meditation techniques for mental centering, both tools are very helpful in labor.  We will also be monitoring if your baby turns head down between week 28 to 32 and practice gentle poses to make more room to keep baby there or help them to turn for optimal fetal positioning and smooth the way to a fast and easy birth. A regular yoga practice will also help you to increase self-awareness and understand your pregnant changing body.

And because your husband/partner is also an important element in your pregnancy journey, I also offer childbirth preparation private sessions for couples, where I provide useful information to your partner on how to help you when the contractions start. He will learn more about the stages of labor and support you with confidence, using comfort measures, massage, and acupressure point techniques to help labor progress with greater calmness.

Before deciding which prenatal class to enroll in, I want to give you this big piece of advice: the session you join MUST be taught by a qualified and experienced prenatal yoga instructor. If what you are doing feels uncomfortable, do not continue and talk to your instructor immediately.

My yoga teaching journey started more than 7 years ago. Early in 2019, I've decided to take a specialisation in pregnancy and postnatal yoga, with great attention in childbirth education. For the past three years, I guided more than 40 parents in Macau with Prenatal Yoga and childbirth preparation, and Postnatal Yoga for birth recovery and reconnection. My main goal is to keep women well informed, physically active and emotionally balanced.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“In every session, Margarida showed us the importance of all the poses and exercises that might help during the delivery and postpartum. I need to mention her great job as a yoga instructor, helping us to understand our body changes and adjusting the yoga practice to each one of us even during the group session.
Thank you Margarida.”
